Scope

This standard specifies the performance requirements for search and rescue radar transponders (SART) operating in the 9GHz frequency band and used for maritime search and rescue. This standard is applicable to the SART required by the Global Maritime Distress Safety System (GMDSS). This standard is the basis for formulating various sART product standards.
